David & Christina Show Episode 37 – Feels like Christmas plus interviews with Andrew Nebel MBE and Neon Tapehead

Welcome to the David & Christina Show.

As the weather turned snowy at the time of recording, we both reflect on the good times of winter weather as Christmas is only 3 weeks away.

On the Corona Diaries, David talks about the exciting news of the Pfizer vaccine and how people should never underestimate him.

David & Christina welcomes back Andrew Nebel MBE about the latest update from Lakeside Healthcare Stamford Patient Participation Group (PPG). In this statement:

The PPG for Lakeside Healthcare Stamford welcomes the efforts being taken by  Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to ensure St Mary’s surgery stays opens by helping the practice negotiate a new lease.

The surgery had been announced to close on 2nd December, but the CCG has not provided permission for this to happen so we hope it still remains open for patients.

We are very pleased that a gazebo awning has recently been installed at Sheepmarket for those queuing for prescriptions or other reasons. And we also understand the dispensary at Sheepmarket is being extended which we hope will mean prescriptions can be dispensed more quickly to ensure the queues are short enough for patients to stay under cover.

However, we hope the St Mary’s surgery hasn’t stopped dispensing prescriptions otherwise all its patients will be ending up in the Sheepmarket queue and the problem will recur.

Long term we hope the CCG’s strategic review of primary care in Stamford will recognise that having a monopoly primary care provider for one of Lincolnshire’s largest and expanding practices is not ideal and competition from an additional practice can only result in a better service for patients all round.

Christina interviews Neon Tapehead who are a funk, soul and R&B band from Moscow, Russia.

The group is spearheaded by bonafide ‘synth-head’ Dmitry Ursul after he acquired his first synth back in 2016, forming the group later that year with drummer Aleksandr Kovalchuk, lead singer Maya Shonia and Dmitry Votintsev on bass.

With music inspired by 80’s electro funk, r&b and soul music along with early house and nudisco, their mission is to bring fresh new vibes and musical creativity by combining the finest elements of old-school era retro synthesizer music, with modern music production techniques. Other key influences include artists and groups such as Kool & The Gang, Zapp, Con Funk Shun, The GAP Band, and Rick James.

After spending the last few years playing shows and gigs in Moscow and other cities across Russia, they dropped an exquisite demo into NexGen Music who immediately recognized their talent and snapped them without a second thought. Now part of a larger music family, the group has the platform and support that they have been craving to help them achieve their musical ambitions.

Neon Tapehead is a unique combination of past and present music + fashion, with groovy beats, retro synths, modern sound production and punchy vocals. Dare we say they are fun, exciting and chic!!

Hope you enjoy the show.
