  1. The problem with this, though, is that a lot of people with autism struggle a great deal with daily life, will never live in their own, and perhaps cannot speak for themselves. It is such a large spectrum. Just because you don’t want a “cure” or treatment doesn’t mean that other people with autism don’t. As a special education teacher and an aunt to a child who has autism, I support the argument that more funding should go towards supporting families and individuals and not only research, but please don’t discount the value of research.

I live on my own I speak for myself and yes I don’t want a cure or treatment and I’m a special education major so to say you know about autism is out of line cause you have not lived in our shoes the stigma towards us the discrimination and labeling so think about it? Oh and by the way I’m autistic and autism speaks doesn’t speak for me
