Spare Me Heaven by Emma Nay

Please,

Do not press your sugared lips to mine

And give me a world of sweetness,

Like feeding a baby its first strawberry.

It’s more than the mind can bare,

To think you’ve found the limit,

Then discover it is not there.

Lay me down at bedrock,

Don’t raise me to the sky

Among the shooting stars and Gods

For if I fall, I’ll die.
