‘The Birds With Broken Wings’ [March 2009]


I am not a poet. Anything I ever have or will write can’t follow the rules of poetry, because I don’t know the rules of poetry. I can’t even tell you how a haiku goes or if I even spelled haiku correctly. I can not stress enough how much of a poet I am not, so just know it’s true.

Still, when a new follower added me in the middle of the night (I was awake nursing Rosie) and I saw his post, asking for people to share things they had written, this automatically popped in my head.

I wrote this, randomly, back in March 2009. I don’t know why I did, I just picked up a pen and paper and let it happen. I think it started as a journal entry and just ended up… this.
